Welfare Committee

The BEVA Welfare Committee is chaired by the President, Ben Mayes, and advises on equine welfare matters from a veterinary perspective. Recently the Committee has been involved in issues including the National Equine Health and Welfare Strategy, Hot branding, Thermocautery, Livery Yard licensing proposals, and the Riding Establishments Committee. The Safer Horse Rescues initiative, aimed at improving the provision of care where horses are trapped or involved in an accident, is also one of the Welfare Committee’s responsibilities.
