Committees

One of the challenges that BEVA Council faces is managing, developing, and communicating its policies in a political environment where greater and greater responsibility is being shifted from Government into the veterinary and equine industries. There is a raft of information which needs to be assimilated in areas as diverse as NSAID use in FEI sports, insurance, equine veterinary nurse training, and the risks and implications of exotic disease. All these issues must be discussed and policy must be formed and communicated.

Since early 2011 Council has utilised a committee based structure to try to ensure that the time and knowledge of Council members is used to best effect.

Council committees:

  • Health and Medicines
  • Education
  • Welfare
  • Policy/Liaison
  • Paraprofessionals

Each committee is chaired by one of Council’s Board of Management, has between four and eight members, and may co-opt non-Council members where there is a gap in knowledge or experience.
